TWO East Lancashire giants have joined forces to kit out high tech flight simulators.

Burley audio video expert eyevis UK has secured a £400,000 dealt with BAE Systems, which has a base in Samlesbury. to provide its display screens and operating equipment to be used in Eurofighter Typhoon flight simulators.

The deal means eyevis' technology will help train air force pilots in some of its key export markets as well as at an in-house testing and evaluation centre in Warton.

Twelve ultra-high definition LCD displays measuring from 58 inches to 85 inches, and nine video wall controllers have been supplied by the Briercliffe firm, which is based in Halifax Road and supplies video display and audio visual solutions to a range of clients and sectors across the world.

Managing director Steve Murphy said: "We are delighted to be working with BAE Systems in such an important area such as pilot training.

"We are pleased they have recognised the quality eyevis UK products can bring to the work they do.

"But also, it is great for us to be working with a company which has the same ethos as us.

"We operate on a much smaller scale but admired BAE Systems' commitment to supporting local businesses and the community.

"We have also replicated their commitment to providing apprenticeship by recently training two apprentices of our own."

Mr Murphy is a former ST Theodore's High School student and an avid Clarets fan.

He served a five-year technical apprenticeship with Michelin.

His company, which also has bases in London and Manchester provides equipment for a wide range of sectors, including CCTV control rooms, local councils, banks, road traffic monitoring, emergency services, blue chip retailers, security services, prisons, and other government buildings.

Last year, eyevis helped keep visitors and competitors at the Commonwealth Games safe after installing a £1 million video wall system in Glasgow's new CCTV control centre.

Its Netpix Video Wall Controllers, which turns numerous CCTV outputs into a single large display, is said to be unique in the market.
