LITTLE Harlee-Jae Procter has ticked off another item off her bucket list when she became a zoo keeper for the day.

The Bacup youngster, who has a life-threatening liver condition, went to Blackpool Zoo where she took part in preparing feed for the monkey, hand fed giraffes and handled a number of different animals.

Five year old Harlee-Jae, with the help of her devoted parents, set up a bucket list to help create precious memories with her family.

In March Harlee-Jae managed to cross off one of the items on the list when she met Clarets star Danny Ings, the footballer then pledged to help her with the rest of her list.

The star told Harlee-Jae, of Anderson Close, he wanted to go with her to the zoo in what would be his first visit as well, but unfortunately he was unable to make the trip.

However, they hope he will be able to arrange a visit where he can attend too.

Mum Sasha-Marie Gill said: "Harlee absolutely loved it. We arrived about 11am and stayed all day until around 4.30pm and were taken around by a zoo keeper who was fantastic.

"Harlee and her sister Codiee-Lee got to do all sorts. They prepared food for the monkeys, hand fed giraffe, held owls, a one day old guinea pig and a cockroach and met the sea lions.

"The zoo were fantastic, they arranged for the girls to have their faces painted and paid for our lunch. We can't thank them enough."

Harlee-Jae suffers from a condition that means part of a chromosome, which could contain vital genetic material, has been lost or deleted.

As revealed by the Lancashire Telegraph earlier this year, Harlee-Jae’s condition means she could die of liver failure at any time.

Along with her mum, dad and sister, Harlee-Jae was invited to spend the weekend at Ribby Hall Village in Wrea Green as a respite trip from Reuben's Retreat, a charity that provides breaks for families of children with life-threatening conditions and cancer.

During the break the family also visited Blackpool Pleasure Beach where they were given exit passes so they did not have to queue and enjoyed an open top bus ride through the town.

Harlee-Jae's are also trying to fundraise for a trip to Lapland in December.
