A FLASHER who exposed himself to two schoolgirls is being hunted by police in Burnley.

Detectives have released an Evofit image of the suspect, who struck at an alleyway in Brennand Street, Duke Bar.

Lancashire police said the girls, both aged 13, were left ‘extremely upset’ by the incident.

The culprit is described as white, around 6ft tall, of a chubby build, scruffy in appearance and thought to be between 30 and 35 years old.

PC Jordan Bruce said the man had short, dark, straight hair, stubble around his chin, cheeks and neck with a pale complexion.

He was wearing a black jacket when he exposed himself to the teenagers at around 8.05am on May 19.

PC Bruce, of Burnley Police, said: “These young girls were left extremely upset by this incident and so I urge the public to have a good look at this image.

“If they recognise the man I’d ask them to please get in touch with us as soon as possible.”

It is believed that the man exposed himself and shouted over to the two 13-year-olds to gain their attention as they walked past.

The girls then ran away from the scene.

Cllr Sue Graham, who represents Labour in Queensgate ward, where the incident happened, said it was usually one of the safest areas in Burnley.

Cllr Graham, a substitute member of the Lancashire Police and Crime Panel, said: “It is normally a very safe ward, it really is.

“In terms of anti-social behaviour, it is one of the best in the borough.

“Crime has been reducing significantly over the last few years.

“It is more than surprising that an incident like this has happened at that time of day.

“It’s not what you expect to see on your way to school.

“I would say anybody who does that sort of thing, once they have been through the courts, needs help.

“I just hope the girls are not too badly affected.”

Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting log number 0193 of May 19.
