DETECTIVES are investigating an armed robbery at a Burnley bookmakers which saw a raider threaten a member of staff with a machete.
An inquiry is underway after a balaclava-clad man burst into the Coral shop in Hammerton Street, around 8.30pm last night.
Insp Michael Johnson, of Lancashire Police, said: “An offender has gone into the premises and threatened a female member of staff with a machete.
“He demanded money, which other members of staff have handed over before he fled the scene.”

Meanwhile staff have raised the alarm with police, who were on the scene within minutes.
Initial suggestions are that the raider has escaped from the bookmakers on a BMX bike.
