Well bang goes ANY chance of me voting THIS time around...Lib-Dems(Who in their right minds would?!),The BNP(why do they bother...?) and New Labour(Well...Need I say more on this particular one?)
I suppose this just means I don't really have to worry about getting my backside off the settee and making an effort...Well,let's face it,looking at this 'spectacular' lineup, why on earth should I really bother...?

Why does any area like higher-croft need three councillors! Its time to trim down the number of councillors (if possible) the way they cut services and cut civil servants.

considering the BNP got 34% of the vote in your ward last time John im pretty sure there is a good reason why they bother.

Considering the Liberal Democrats received 22.1% of the vote in the country in the last general election, there really is a good reason why they bother.

Let's not forget how useless the right-wing parties have been in the past: http://www.lancashireeveningtelegraph.co.uk/display.var.1236399.0.england_first_pair_quit_party.php. Let alone that Robin Evans BNP lad who quite having made 1 speech in 14 months!!! Now I know why no-one else in the country bothers with them.

...Well,let's face it,looking at this 'spectacular' lineup, why on earth should I really bother...?
...well John you should, even if it is to write on your ballot paper 'none of the above', then you will have at least registered your right to vote and made your point! It is often the two thirds of people who don't bother to vote who are the most vociferous in their complaining about government/councils.
Remember also that people in many foreign countries would love to be able to vote but are unable to exercise that right through no fault of their own.

Fair comment from everyone...I'll vote..Even if it means saying 'None Of The Above',after all,it's my RIGHT to say that I'm not happy with ANYBODY that is standing;something that folk in other less 'Diplomatic' countries would give their right arm for...I've been put in my place...;-)

Thanks John...now if only others would think the same way...

...I actually meant to say 'Fair comment from Tolerance...' My fingers get a bit too animated sometimes...

John Dawns, Shadsworth,Blackburn says...

I must admit,Tolerance,I have NEVER wasted my vote...Sometimes I have voted for parties that are a complete waste of time(my first being the NF back in the 80's...If you knew me personally, you would understand WHY it was a wasted vote, and the last was New Labour...)but I have done the same as everybody else and tried to make my vote count...Unfortunately,I have 'fuzzy logic' when it comes to politics...I am looking for a political party that actually MAKES ANY REAL SENSE...I'm still looking...

To hurt the Controlling Party in Blackburn with Darwen Council the way forward is to vote at less 3 of them off, so this is a list of ones that should be voted off the Council - Kate Hollern (Wensley Fold ward),Ron O'Keeffe (Meadowhead ward),Frank Connor (March House ward),Nigel Nutter (Sunnyhurst ward) and Frank Davis (Earcroft ward) or any others you want to vote off but it would be nice to have a change of control in Blackburn with Darwen Council, lets do it let have People Power let have a change as this lot have forced things on to the people without listening to the people - What they want!

Yours sincerely

I think its great the BNP are standing, i usually vote LABOUR but this time the BNP will get my vote. Im not racist just sick and tired of others coming first. Enough is Enough.
I cant understand why people maon about candidates from other parties we live in a democracy and we the voters have the say who is elected by using our vote.

It's the 'Bernard Mathews(Lab)' that made me laugh...That vote MUST be a real turkey! lololol!

Interesting reading. I feel it is a shame more of you with so many positive ideas haven't decidied to stand yourself. My friend Adrian is, I believe, the only independent standing for election. John Dawns is right in so much of what he says but it is sad that while recognising that voting for Lib Dem/Lab/BNP is a wasted vote he doesn't advocate any alternative.

Adrian on the other hand, isn't much of a politician, but a local man who wants to make a difference. And, unlike the right wing, he is not intolerant and bigoted.

Returning a sensible, down-to-earth person like Adrian would be positive in so many ways. It would hurt the Labour Party, while providing a sensible and rational voice on the council...a voice that will work with the people rather than for a party.

A vote in Ewood will count...I feel sorry for those in other wards who don't have any option but to choose party politicians.
