A ROSSENDALE man has appeared in court charged with secretly filming a nine-year-old girl.

Andrew Blundell, 47, formerly of Bacup but now living in Shelfield Road, in Southport, is charged with installing a video camera for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification, by observing a private act, between December 1, 2013, and January 31, 2014.

Blundell, a quality controller, is also accused of two offences of recording another person doing a private act, without their consent, between January 1 and May 21 in 2014.

He is also charged with five further offences of recording people doing private acts for sexual gratification at Wavelengths Leisure Centre in Nelson.

The charges cover alleged covert filming in changing rooms at the Leeds Road leisure centre last year on April 12, June 7 and July 12, and periods between January 1 of that year and February 27, May 19 and June 9 respectively.

Blundell, also faces two accusations of making indecent photographs at Bacup between March 2007 and March 2012, in relation to seizures of two and three images.

Pennine magistrates sent Blundell for trial and remanded him on bail for a hearing at Burnley Crown Court on June 8.
