A 32-YEAR-OLD man attacked his partner after turning up at her home “foaming at the mouth and off his head”.

Blackburn magistrates heard at the time Nicholas John Wilson was taking amphetamine to try and lift himself out of a depression.

And the court heard if he hadn’t been arrested Nicholas John Wilson was going to take his own life.

Wilson, of Lammack Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to assaulting Emma Riley and stealing her mobile phone on May 3.

He also pleaded guilty to breaching a restraining order imposed to protect another former girlfriend and on the same day damaging a door belonging to Emma Riley and theft of £350 from her and being in possession of amphetamine.

He was jailed for four weeks on all offences and a further 12 weeks was imposed for being in breach of a suspended prison sentence. The magistrates also made a restraining order for two years in favour of Miss Riley and ordered Wilson to pay a £80 victim surcharge and £180 criminal court charge.

Andy Robinson, prosecuting, said Wilson had been at Miss Riley’s home the night before and she had told him to leave. The following morning he was banging on her door demanding his mobile phone charger.

She let him then left with her three-year-old child and got in her car to leave. Wilson dragged Miss Riley out and punched her repeatedly.

Jonathan Taylor, defending, said there had been real concerns about his client’s mental health.
