A GANG of men who got into a fight after travelling by train are being hunted by police.

The fight broke out as the gang left the train at Blackburn Railway Station at around 8pm on Saturday, March 7, causing terrified passengers and station staff to flee to safety.

Although the incident happened almost eight weeks ago, officers at British Transport Police have only just released details of the incident and launched an appeal for the public’s help.

BTP officers have released a CCTV image of a man they want to question in connection with the incident.

PC Alex Fernie said: “A group of men travelled by train from Blackpool North.

“When the train arrived at Blackburn shortly before 8pm, the men left the train and a fight broke out on the platform.

“Fellow passengers and even station staff were so frightened by the incident that they were forced to take cover to avoid the melee.”

Officers think the man caught on tape could hold vital clues about the fight, and yesterday urged him or anyone who recognises him to come forward.

PC Fernie added: “I urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward and contact officers.”

Anyone with information should call British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40, or text 61016, quoting reference PSUB/B9 of 05/05/2015.

Information can also be passed anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
