A TEENAGER went on a drunken rampage through a Tesco store sweeping bottles of red wine off a shelf and stealing one.

But before he left Declan Livesey shouted, “I’m Declan, I’m Declan” making identification easy for police.

Livesey, of Haworth Street, Rishton, pleaded guilty to stealing a bottle of wine and a can of de-icer and damaging four bottles of wine.

He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £100 costs and £50 compensation.

Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said Livesey was running round the Tesco store on Abbey Street.

He ran out but then came back in and deliberately pushed bottles of wine off the shelf. Jonathan Taylor, defending, said that Livesey had made identification easy by shouting out his name.

“He was extremely drunk and other than that can’t explain why he behaved as he did,” said Mr Taylor.

“As well as identifying himself at the scene, he attended voluntarily at the police station.”
