Described by Billy Connolly as the “funniest man in England” and acknowledged as the Grandfather of Folk, Mike’s current focus has shifted to his poetry.

With four published anthologies to his credit, he’s been dropping in to read his poems at poetry and literary festivals around the country lately, and they have gone down a storm.

After an appearance at the Worcester Literary Festival they said: “Humour and nostalgia gave us an insight in to this professional, talented and charming man.

A review from the Swaledale Festival said: “He reads with sincerity and a deep-seated musicality, and every now and then he just can’t help being side-splittingly funny!”

Mike has decided to take his poetry on a tour of small theatres and arts centres in the north of England. He will be in Darwen on Sunday, May 10, from 7.30pm, with tickets £14 for adults and £12 for concessions.
