STORAGE Hunter turned roving reporter Jesse McClure was given a guided tour of Lancashire Police’s headquarters by the officers he caught on film a day earlier.

The American TV star’s visit to Greenbank, off Whitebirk Drive in Blackburn, came after footage of a dramatic police chase in Burnley went viral, topping one million views on the internet since it was uploaded on Tuesday.

The 90-second clip showed police officers boxing in a suspected stolen car before hauling its occupants away.

Jesse hit the record button on his phone after he saw a dark coloured Vauxhall Zafira smash into a utility box on a traffic island at the junction of Rossendale Road and Accrington Road around 12.40pm.

The Californian said he was later approached by police via Twitter after publicly praising officers for their handling of the situation in the Lancashire Telegraph.

In a visit to the Telegraph’s offices in High Street, Blackburn, on Wednesday, he said: “The chief inspector tweeted me and then sent me an email.

“They were really cool and laid back. I feel like they are really taking the proper steps to now watch what they say.

“I saw their set up with all the body cameras, so there’s a real sense with accountability now. They know they’re being recorded.

“It feels good to have that sense of accountability for the people that are supposed to be protecting us.”

Jesse was shown around the holding cells, offices, divisions such as child protection and traffic, and the vehicles that were involved in Tuesday’s chase except the BMW.

He also got up close and personal with the police dog that helped tackle two suspects.

Jesse said: “I gave it a little pat but I didn’t get too close..

“The police put me in cuffs and told me to scream, and the dog was going bananas.”

The officers also signed a helmet for Jesse.
