LEDBURY Community Day is on track once more to be a major celebration of the town, its clubs, societies and organisations.

The event will take place on Saturday, June 6, and it looks set to be as successful as last year's celebration.

Spokesman, Griff Holliday said: "Local groups and organisations of all kinds will be on hand to show us what they do, invite us to join them, seek opinions, encourage participation, raise money, and entertain us at venues through the town.

"Last year 65 groups and organisations took part, and so far this year over 30 have confirmed they will take part again, with more to follow."

He added: "You will be able to find out more about everything from archery to tennis, bowls to ornithology, canals to cycling, horticulture to local food. Lots of voluntary groups will be there to tell you about the good work they do and how you can help them. There will be a mobile police station in the High Street, Homestart Herefordshire will be on hand, and the community band will play.

"This year there will be even more to see as we celebrate the opening after restoration of the Master’s House with special features for the day. "

Most events will take place between 10am and 2pm.

Paul Kinnaird chairman of the organisers says, “Community Day is a great opportunity to find out all the wonderful opportunities that our local groups and organisations provide.”

It is not too late for local groups interested in taking part to join in. Contact the organisers by emailing info@ledburycommunityday.org.uk or phoning 01531 633637.

Full details of the event and those taking part this year will be available on our website www.ledburycommunityday.org.uk, and in the free event programme, available in town from late May.
