COMMUNITY groups and charities can win a share of £2000 thanks to a helping hand from TESCO in Barry.

The Stirling Road Tesco store is running a Helping Hand competition which will ask shoppers at the store to nominate local worthwhile causes who they feel deserve a little extra help.

The winning organisations can use their share of the donation as they wish, whether it be to help fund an event, buy new equipment or pay for redecoration works.

Manager of the Tesco Barry store, John Mitchell, said: “The Helping Hand competition is a really exciting opportunity for our customers to have their say and let us know where they feel we should offer some support.

“Playing a positive role within our local community is important to us so I’m really looking forward to seeing the nominations from our customers and getting to know more about worthwhile causes in our area."

The competition will be launched at Tesco Barry on Monday, April 20 and will close on Sunday, May 17 at 4pm. Once the voting is closed, John and his team will go through all the nominations and pick their winners.

Customers will be able to collect nomination forms at the Tesco Barry store and once completed, deposit them in an entry box based at the Customer Service desk.

The Tesco Barry store is open seven days a week from 6am till midnight Monday to Saturday and from 10am till 4pm Sunday.
