A CARE worker from Ramsbottom and a colleague have been jailed after they tried to cover up a fall involving an 87-year-old woman, which saw her fracture her pelvis.
Lauren Gillies, 25, of Stubbins Street, was given a six-month sentence at Bolton Crown Court, along with Susan Logan, 59, from Radcliffe, over Ethel Rider’s injury.
Mrs Rider fell to the floor at the Half Acre Care Home in Radcliffe, after Logan attempted to turn the dementia-sufferer by herself, against the home’s policy, the court heard. An ambulance was not called for 24 hours.
Gillies and Logan, who no longer work at the home, had admitted one charge of wilful neglect at an earlier hearing.
