Fan loses twice in one night

9:07am Monday 26th March 2007

DEFEAT for Blackburn Rovers against West Ham brought a Clitheroe driver a three-year ban and £860 in fines and costs.

Magistrates heard that Karl Yeoman watched the match in the pub and left immediately after to drive the short distance home, only to be sstopped and breathalysed.

Alfred Rebello, defending, said a different result for Rovers could have meant a different result for his client.

"If Rovers had won he would have stayed and celebrated with a few more drinks and left his van at the pub," said Mr Rebello.

Yeoman, 43, of Whalley Road, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol and without insurance.

He was banned from driving for three years because he had a previous conviction in August 1997, inside a 10-year period, and was fined £800 with £60 costs.
