"MILLIE" has arrived to welcome passengers to Colne Railway Station.
The 6ft stainless steel sculpture, costing several thousand pounds, of the mill girl was unveiled on Saturday morning, on the path to the platform.
Created by sculptor Clare Biggar, of Clitheroe, the artwork was commissioned by the Colne in Bloom team, which took over management of the station 18 months ago, and funded by Lee Duerden of XLCR Vehicle Management in Albert Road.
Nicknamed "Millie", the statue is accompanied by an information board telling the story of a day in the life of a typical mill worker.
Mayor and Mayoress of Pendle George and Rose Adam travelled to Colne on the train to be some of the first passengers to see the statue on arrival, before watching project manager Derek Gascoigne unveil it.
Chairwoman of Colne in Bloom Committee, Coun Dorothy Lord, said: "We wanted to do something unique that would complement the flower beds.
"Colne was built on cotton mills so what better way to celebrate our town's history."
