EAST Lancashire’s famous Shameless star has unleashed her inner rock goddess to celebrate this year’s Red Nose Day.

Actress Alice Barry has transformed herself into Gene Simmons from KISS as she once again signs up to support Comic Relief.

The 69-year-old grandmother, who played Lillian Tyler in the cult Channel 4 drama also appeared in Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights, Benidorm and Coronation Street.

She rocked the iconic make up, wild hair and the Demon show-stopper costume in the hope of having people laugh all the way to making a donation.

Alice, who grew up in Haslam Street, Gannow , Burnley, said: “I always have fun doing a Comic Relief shoot, and this year was no different.

“I loved being able to impersonate a rock star for the day.

“It really is easy to make your face look funny. Get the face paints out, stick a wig on or just wear a Red Nose.

“I want to see if anyone can make their face look funnier than mine with all that paint on.”

The former St Mary Magdalene’s RC Primary School and Coal Clough Secondary School pupil is not afraid to show off her funny side and in previous years impersonated Pamela Anderson in Bay Watch and the front cover of American Beauty to help raise cash and awareness for Sport Relief and Comic Relief.

This year’s fundraising extravaganza, which is due to take place Friday, March 13, will see people across the country being asked to make their faces funny for money. The charity helps raise life-changing amounts of cash for people in poverty in the UK and abroad.
