A MAN died after his car flipped onto its roof on the M65 last night.

The victim, named on social media as Mark Jones, died at the scene.

The emergency services were called to the westbound carriageway between junctions 10 for Burnley and nine for Hapton shortly after 8pm.

A black BMW is thought to have veered into the central reservation before turning over and coming to rest on its roof a couple of hundred metres down the carriageway.

Paramedics attended but the 44-year-old man from Barrowford, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Road closures were in place for about four hours following the incident which happened a mile past junction 10.

Sgt Finn Quainton from the road policing team said: "This is a difficult time for the family and friends of the motorist, who are being supported by specially trained officers.

“Anyone who may have witnessed the collision is urged to contact us with any information they may have that could help us to establish exactly what happened and to help us with our enquiries.

“I’m also keen to speak to anyone that may have seen the black BMW in the area prior to the collision.”
