A spokesman on the Blackburn with Darwen winter page said: “We have received feedback from our drivers that missiles were being thrown at the gritting vehicles as they made their way round the routes.
“This is completely unacceptable and puts our drivers at serious risk of having an accident.
“All vehicles have CCTV attached to them and we will be reviewing the footage and supplying it to Lancashire Police.”
Coun Jim Smith, executive member for environment, said he was shocked to hear about what had happened.
He said: “I am disgusted to hear that mindless vandals can attack a vehicle and its crew when they are trying to ensure our road network remains open during a period of heavy snow.
“Incidences like this not only endanger the safety of council staff.”
