A DARWEN primary school is selling stationery in a bid to raise cash.

Pupils at Ashleigh Primary School are able to buy items with the school’s logo on to help add funds to the coffers.

Among the items on sale are full stationery sets, which cost £3; water bottles, priced at £3; erasers, which are £2; pencils, priced at 50p; and rulers, which cost £1. Parents can also buy mugs for £3. All of the items are on display outside the Ross Street school’s office.

In a newsletter to parents, Head teacher Ian Matthews said: “We are selling various items of stationery with the Ashleigh school logo in order to raise funds for the school.

“If you wish to purchase any of these, please send money in an envelope to Julie Marr with your child’s name and class and the items required.”

The fundraising is being organised by the Friends of Ashleigh group, which is made up of parents, teachers and friends of the school.

Among the projects They group has already funded projects including the greenhouses and the garden area. Julie Marr, chairman, said: “All money raised will go back into projects beneficial to our children.”
