AWARD-winning hip-hop star and radio personality Fatman Scoop is to perform in Darwen next month.

The 35-year-old, best known for his track Be Faithful, which topped the UK Singles chart in 2003, will perform all his hits at Level One Nightclub, in Market Street, from 11pm on Saturday, February 21.

A spokesman for the club said: “Fatman Scoop is one of the biggest hype men and has collaborated and performed with the world’s biggest stars, including Akon, Snoop Dogg, Janet Jackson, and Missy Elliot.

“He will be live on stage showing you why he is the ultimate hype man and performer that makes him one of the most recognised voices in the world.”

Fatman Scoop, whose real name is Isaac Freeman III, is a Grammy award winner and is famed for his on-stage rough, raw, and loud voice.

The hip-hop heavyweight is thought to have been given his stage name after he appeared in the Fugees’ Killing Me Softly video as a cinema worker serving popcorn and ice-cream.

Band member Lauryn Hill would shout, “scoop, scoop, fat man scoop,” when she wanted some ice cream herself.

Tickets for the event cost £5 and are available online at www.levelonenightclub.co.uk
