LANCASHIRE residents were able to enjoy some winter snow yesterday, as much of the county was briefly carpeted in white.

Snow fell in the morning and although much of it had melted away by the time darkness fell, many still found time to enjoy it while it lasted.

The Rossendale valley was one of the snowiest areas, with several schools closed to pupils and staff – giving children the opportunity to get their sledges out or build a snowman.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Other areas of East Lancashire had avoided the heavy snow that was predicted to fall overnight on Tuesday., however, some areas, including Oswaldtwistle, Colne and Burnley experienced flurries, and problems started to arise on the roads, with Burnley Road, in Accrington, reported to be very icy.

But unlike last week when the M65 ground to a halt, East Lancashire’s motorways kept moving thanks to the Highways Agency and Lancashire County Council, but were dealt with.
