Amitabh Bachchan was amongst many Bollywood stars who turned to Twitter to welcome in the new year.

The veteran star tweeted: “T 1723 - May the light of the new sunrise, brighten us all for the entire year of 2015 .. harmony and happiness !!”

Madhuri Dixit-Nene also shared her New Year on the social media site: Hey everyone. Let’s raise the roof. What are you doing right now? Am chilling with the family!”

‘Dabangg’ star Sonakshi Sinha tweeted: “Happy new year you guys! Thank you for believing in me, standing by me and for all the love. This 2015 hoping to give u back lots more.”

Only several movies were released late in 2014 as no-one wanted to go up against PK.
