POLICE in Blackburn are trying to trace a man who reportedly walked into an Indian restaurant with head injuries and told staff he had been involved in an accident.

The man, believed to have been about 65 years old, went into Amaan Indian restaurant in Montague Street at 10pm on Saturday night with lacerations to his head and bleeding.

Staff told police he said he had been in a fail to stop road traffic collision.

But police have since been unable to trace the man or the accident he reported.

Insp Dave Clarke said: "He left the restaurant and we have not been able to trace him or identify him.

"We have no details of any incident and we have made inquiries at the hospital but they have no record.

"We really want to speak to this man to make sure he is okay."

The man was described as being white, 5ft 6ins tall and wearing a three-quarter length grey jacket.

He had a large laceration to his head.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting log number 1462 of December 20.
