MULTIPLE award-winning global desi groove pioneers Swami have launched their brand new single Do It Again.

Swami, is an electronic pop band with Bhangra influences originating from Birmingham, UK, consisting of four members: DJ Swami, Sur, Liana and S-Endz.

The letters of Swami stand for their ethos ‘So Who AM I?’ With funky guitars and hard hitting electronic pop beats meeting the sounds of Bhangra and Bollywood, the new single is accompanied by a high energy music video showcasing a side of the band you've never seen before.

Several more versions of the track will be made available shortly including an acoustic mix and an extended version, all of which will be available on digital music platforms worldwide.

Swami are also launching a new YouTube video series named Swami Sunday.

From as early as 1998, Swami started as an experimental studio project between DJ/ guitarist Diamond Duggal (DJ Swami) and drummer brother Simon ‘Subs’ Duggal.

The aim was to create a progressive new sound from the third generation British Indian Punjabi roots of Bhangra and Bollywood.

The duo wanted to fuse their culture with the surrounding influences of electronic dance, reggae, rock and funk in their work. Initially, they started creating waves producing and writing international hits for Apache Indian, but they were always inspired by the sounds of contemporary UK Bhangra and Asian Underground.

However, these influences existed in separate communities and spaces at the time and the duo wanted to bridge the gap with something unique. After initial electronic dance fused club instrumental tracks, Swami quickly became a band with vocalist Taz (Stereo Nation) and dhol player Kam Bura completing the lineup.

By 2007, Swami had released their third studio album ‘Equalize’ producing the electronic dance hit Electro Jugni and the hiphop soul-funk ‘Hey Hey’’.

Yet again winning Best Producer 2008 UKAMA, this was a reinstatement that the production quality of Swami was always a high priority for the band.

With the introduction of female vocals from New York vocalist/rapper Boostylz on Hey Hey, it was only a matter of time before a permanent female vocalist would be sought to join DJ Swami, Sur and S-Endz on stage.

Two days before a live TV performance on BBC Desi DNA in 2008, the band members met pop vocalist Liana McCarthy in an effort to find a permanent female band member – an essential element missing from the new sound of Swami.
