PEOPLE across the North West have been urged to 'vote for Foggy' to stay on ITV reality show I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.

Blackburn former World Superbikes champion Carl Fogarty was recently dropped into the Australian jungle for the show, alongside nine other celebrities, for the annual challenge.

And Mellor Brook firm Monks Contractors has got behind the star, who lives just two minutes from their main office in Myerscough Smithy Road.

Owner Chris Monk, a close personal friend of 'Foggy', has had one of his trucks decorated as a huge show of support.

The wagon, which carries green waste from Thornton near Blackpool to Salford, before returning to base in Mellor Brook, has 'Vote Foggy' written on the side in huge letters, with the phone number to call and pictures of the star.

James Styles, who does a lot of Monks' marketing, said: "We had to wait until it all came out that he was on the show before we could get all the artwork done.

"It is out and about now and people are taking photographs and commenting already.

"We wanted to support him because he is local and he only lives around the corner."

Mr Styles said he thought Foggy had acquitted himself well to life in the jungle, with the show now almost a week in.

He said: "I think he is doing brilliantly really. He is coming across really well.

"I could not have done that first challenge with the snakes and it is great to hear an East Lancashire accent on the television."

Foggy, who won four world titles during his successful career, got off to a difficult start in the jungle when his team was told it would be spending the first few nights in the 'Celebrity Slammer', living on just oats and sleeping on the floor.

But the other camp mates, including pop star Tinchy Stryder, ex-footballer Jimmy Bullard and TV presenter Melanie Sykes had him released in the early stages of the show.

On his way to join the camp, Foggy had to take part in the first Bushtucker Trial and sat in a tank full of snakes for 12 minutes, winning the maximum number of stars and a big meal for all his new campmates.

Foggy is currently one of the favourites to win the show, with odds of 10/1, and has already made an impression with his East Lancashire charm and dry humour.

* Voting is currently to choose which of the celebrities takes part in a 'Bushtucker Trial', a gruesome task undertaken in order to win food for the camp.

However as the competition progresses the public will vote to keep their favourite contestant on the show.
