LANCASTRIANS are typically proud and friendly folk with strong sense of identity and a love of hearty fare.

But do you fit the Lancashire mould?

YouGov, the firm best known for compiling opinion polls ahead of elections, have released a sample of the data they have which profiles people with certain interests.

Among those profiled are people with an interest in Lancashire - and the results may well surprise you.

According to YouGov, the average Lancastrian is a 60+ female with slightly left-wing political views and a love of mushy peas.

They are also most likely to work in media, healthcare or home and garden.

With more than £1,000 month to spend after they've paid off all their bills, the average Lancastrian is supposedly quite well off.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Their hobbies include Sudoku, trekking and gardening as well as a general interest in personal finance, animals, nature and religion.

You will also find that the most common Lancashire pet is a dog...

Living in Lancashire also means you don't mind paying for organic food and you find the idea of being in debt stressful.

The average Lancastrian shops at Booths, banks with Natwest, drives a Skoda, and is a customer of Virgin Trains, Microsoft and BT Sport.
