A BURNLEY worker ended a night out by breaking a takeaway window – by throwing a woman at it, a court was told.

The town’s magistrates heard how Jason McGuire, 28, caused damage to the tune of £150, at Rino’s Pizza House, on Union Road, Oswaldtwistle, on June 26.

He is employed at Veka PLC in Burnley – window suppliers.

Alex Mann, prosecuting, said McGuire had thrown or pushed the woman into the window as the takeaway staff were trying to close up.

The woman had not made a statement to the police about what happened.

She was arrested for being drunk and disorderly.

McGuire, care of Whitegate Close, Padiham, admitted damage. He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay £150 compensation and a £15 victim surcharge.

Miss Mann told the hearing McGuire had been given a conditional caution after the incident, but was brought before the court because it had not been complied with.

He had not paid the £150 for the window.

McGuire’s last conviction was in 2010.

Glen Smith, for the defendant, said: “He was trying to protect himself, but it was reckless to push her away.”
