POLICE have issued CCTV footage of a man they would like to speak to in connection with an incident last month at a Tesco store in Blackburn.

The incident happened at around 1.20am on Saturday 6 September at the Tesco store on Hill Street.

A man is believed to have entered the store, taken two bottles of alcohol and tried to leave the store without paying.

It is thought that when staff and security guards challenged the man, he threatened them with what appeared to be a bread knife. He then fled the supermarket without paying.

He is described as a white male, in his early 20s and of a slim build. He was wearing black trousers, a black shirt, light coloured jacket, black trainers and a black and white cap.

DC Rob Sledge of Blackburn CID said: “I would urge everyone to take a good look at the CCTV footage and anyone who may recognise him should get in touch with police as soon as possible.

“The staff at the supermarket were very brave to confront the man and this was understandably a traumatic incident for all involved.” Anybody with information should call police on 101 quoting log reference LC-20140906-0115.
