A SENIOR nurse has been accused of recording video footage of a colleague’s breasts while filming a role play scenario.

Andrew Martin Curson, who worked for Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust, is also alleged to have sent several ‘sexually motivated’ messages via Facebook, and will face a misconduct panel convened by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) next week.

He was employed as a ‘management of violence and aggression instructor’ across East Lancashire, with a Band 7 salary of between £30,000 and £40,000. The trust said an internal investigation led to Mr Curson departing the organisation.

The incident relating to the video footage, in which he allegedly filmed his colleague’s breast area ‘on more than one occasion’, is said to have happened on October 8, 2012, and he is said to have sent a series of inappropriate messages to a different colleague in May of that year.

He allegedly said through Facebook: ”I’m sure u'll be good to look at, u in the sun, dressed scantily lol xxx”, “will it b an all over tan xxx”, “lol, so no white patches then? just picturing it xxx” and "mmmmmm now that has got my mind wandering. u in small panties and bras xxx".

He is also accused of sending inappropriate messages to another colleague in February 2012, and of inappropriately using a trust mobile phone on unknown dates.

The charge sheet added that Mr Curson received a police caution in October last year, for sexually touching a woman in Blackburn in April 2012.

Craig Barratt, executive director of strategy and transformation at Lancashire Care, said: “The trust took the allegations against this former staff member very seriously. These were acted upon immediately and a full investigation was conducted in line with trust policy.

“As a result of this investigation, the individual in question no longer works for the organisation.

“The trust expects its employees to conduct themselves appropriately both inside and outside of work. This is an isolated and regrettable case and the trust sets very high standards for its staff in line with professional codes of conduct and the trust’s core values.”

Mr Curson’s case will be heard in London on Tuesday, and is expected to last four days. If misconduct is proved, Mr Curson could be struck off or suspended from the nursing register, have conditions of practise imposed, or receive a caution.
