THE owners of a near-blind dog which has gone missing have made a heartfelt appeal for the safe return of their beloved pet.

Ralph, a seven-month-old pug, disappeared from Joanne and Colin Green’s garden in Groveside Park, Rosegrove, last Thursday.

The couple said there was a good chance the dog could go completely blind and die if it was not found soon.

Ralph is totally blind in one eye and requires medication to treat his other eye, in which he is partially-sighted.

Lancashire Telegraph:

Mrs Green, 47, said she had been overwhelmed by the support of her neighbours in looking for Ralph but said she feared for his survival.

She said: “He needs the medication for his partially blind eye twice a day. Without it he will go completely blind and then he’ll be in all sorts of trouble.

“We’ve posted in a number of Facebook groups like Burnley Buy and Sell and loads of people have helped us put up posters in the area but so far we’ve heard nothing despite the massive support and everyone looking out for him.”

Ralph, who has a fawn-coloured body, black ears and black patches around his eyes, doesn’t have a collar but is microchipped.

He went missing at around 3pm on September 25 while Mr Green was working inside.

The couple, who live with their two sons, Zachary, 20, and Ethan, 16, have spoken to the RSPCA’s East Lancashire branch, Burnley Council’s dog warden and various vets practices in the hope that someone will spot Ralph. Mrs Green, a teaching assistant at Ightenhill Primary School, added: “We love him so much as a family and with him being so young it’s even more worrying.

“My husband has a special bond with him as he had a kidney transplant at the beginning of the year and our little man has helped him in his recovery both physically and mentally.”
