A KNIFEWOMAN and a prolific Burnley crook are facing jail after a man was attacked at his flat.

Drunken Mikaila Tyhurst, 27, who formerly lived in the town, and accomplice Shaun Andrews had been in a gang of three who went to the victim' s home.

He was threatened with a blade and his possessions stolen, the Burnley Crown Court was earlier told.

Andrews, 28, of Parkinson Street, Burnley, had earlier admitted robbery and a pre- sentence report was ordered by the court. Andrews, who has a long criminal record, was said in previous hearings to have had an appalling upbringing. His barrister said he acknowledged he would receive a 'significant' custodial term.

Tyhurst, now of Rochdale Road, Manchester, pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm and theft of a TV, laptop, mobile phone and wallet from the victim.

The defendant, who had denied robbery, had earlier admitted having an article with a blade or point.

Prosecutor Adam Lodge said Tyhurst had gone to the property with two men and there was some violence, at the end of which the TV was taken.

William Staunton, Tyhurst's barrister, said at the time of the offences she had been ‘inebriated’ and she was now in a hostel where drink was not permitted.

Tyhurst was bailed until October 24, for a pre-sentence report and will be sentenced together with Andrews. She was warned by Judge Simon Newell: “Do not read into that that there will be a non- custodial sentence. All sentences will be at large, including custody.”

Tyhurst, a former pupil of Habergham High School, Burnley, made the headlines in 2009, when her mother told of her horror of watching her daughter being ravaged by the effects of a then-legal party drug.

Tyhurst, it was reported at the time, lost her looks and her health when she became addicted to GBL at the age of 18, after it was believed she had been 'spiked.' The defendant had dreamed of becoming an airline stewardess but almost died after an overdose that year, lost her front teeth after a drug-induced fall, had just 10 per cent liver function left and suffered skin complaints.
