THIS is the face of a man Lancashire Police want to quiz in relation to a sustained attack on a woman in an East Lancashire park – after a man was challenged about abusing his pet dogs.

Police say that the victim, aged 50, was left shocked after a man spat in her face and punched her in the arms repeatedy in Bacup’s Stubbylee Park.

She is said to have approached the dog owner after seeing him kicking his dogs as she made her way through the New Line park.

But when he was confronted the man became infuriated and is alleged to have launched the violent attack, which saw her hit several times.

PC Tony Norman, of Burnley Police, said: “The victim sustained bruising to her arms as a result of this assault and is understandably upset follow-ing this incident. I would like people to take a good look at the photograph of a man that we would like to speak to in connection with our inquiries.”

The man is said by police to be white, around 5ft 10in tall, of medium build, with short, black hair and he is believed to speak with an Irish accent.

The man is also thought to have been pushing a pram, containing a baby, at the time of the attack.

At the time he was pictured, he was holding a light-brown Dachshund.

The other dog, which was with him, is thought to be of a similar breed.

The incident occurred on September 2, at around 1.30pm, but details have only just been released by police.

Potential witnesses are asked to contact the police non-emergency number, 101, quoting a log number of C-20140902-0701.
