A man who went to a disused mill to recover his tools which had been left there by someone else ended up taking some scrap copper.
Blackburn magistrates heard that Terrence William Moorby, 53, was stopped by police as he drove away from the Vernon Carus mill, Hoddlesden.
Moorby, of Ermine Close, Blackburn, admitted burglary. He was made subject to community supervision for nine months and ordered to pay £60 costs.
Daniel King, defending, said Moorby had been annoyed with the acquaintance who borrowed his tools then left them at the mill.
"He went to collect them himself and when he got there it looked like the other person had been up to no good," said Mr King.
As he left he stumbled over the copper bar and put it in his tool box.
