A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD boy needed hospital treatment for facial injuries after he was bitten by a dog in Blackburn.
The attack happened as the youngster was walking in the Bolton Road area of the town with the bull terrier-type dog around 5pm on Saturday.

Police said they did not believe the animal was a banned breed, although it has been seized from its owners.
The boy was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital where he received treatment for a ‘deep laceration’ on his face.
Insp Andy Winter said police were called to the incident around 6.30pm.
He said: “The boy was out with somebody who was walking that dog.
“He had been bitten by a bull-terrier type dog, but it was not a pit bull and we do not think it is an illegal dog.
“The child has facial injuries including a deep laceration between his upper lip and his nose. He was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital and police are investigating the full circumstances.
“The dog has been seized from the owners.”
It was the second dog attack on Saturday, with police also being called to Howard Close, in Accrington, around 5pm.
The two owners were at home when their rottweiler bit both of them on the arm.
The animal was also removed by police, although officers said the case had now been closed and there would be no further action.
