Fifteen Rovers fans received banning orders between September 21, 2013, and September 3, 2014, placing them third in the Championship table.

The data, compiled by the Home Office using records held by the UK Football Policing Unit and British Transport Police, showed no arrests or banning orders for Accrington Stanley followers.

Of the 65 Burnley fans arrested, 43 were for incidents in or around Turf Moor, while 22 came at away fixtures.

The arrests were made on suspicion of various offences including violent disorder (29), public disorder (19), missile throwing (one), pitch incursion (two), alcohol offences (nine), use or possession of fireworks or flares (two), and offences against property (three).

Of Blackburn fans’ 49 arrests, 15 involved games at Ewood park, with 34 at away matches.

The included 15 for violent disorder, 14 for public disorder, three for missile throwing, eight for alcohol offences, seven for use or possession of fireworks or flares, and two for offences against property.

Overall, 29 Clarets fans and 29 Rovers fans are now subject to football banning orders. No statistics on eventual convictions were released.

In its report, the Home Office said there were 2,273 football-related arrests in England and Wales last season, down seven per cent on the previous campaign.

A spokesman said: “The 2013-14 football-related arrest season total is the lowest on record, continuing the general downwards trend. There remains a significant risk of escalation if efforts to tackle football-related disorder are reduced.”
