SIX people were evacuated when a suspicious fire broke out at a block of flats in Blackburn this morning.
Fire crews from Blackburn and Hyndburn were called to King Street at 4.40am and spent around two hours at the scene.
Crew manager Gary Thorpe said: “We arrived to see smoke billowing from the building.
“It was a moderate fire but luckily no homes were damaged and everyone is safe.
“The only damage is some smoke damage in the entry way where the fire is thought to have started.”
The cause of the fire is now under investigation but crews believe it was started deliberately.
