MORE than a thousand homes in the Sabden area were affected by a power cut at 4.30pm today, after a fault with some overhead cables.

Electricity North West said most of the homes had their power restored within a few minutes, but about 180 properties were without power for a few hours. These were mainly in Watt Street, Mount Pleasant, Lamb Row and Pendleside Close. The firm said the majority of these were back up by 8pm.
