MUSICAL students from Haslingden High School delighted crowds at Birmingham's Symphony Hall.

The brass band and wind band were playing at the Music for Youth concert after being selected following a heat held at the high school.

Now they might get picked to play at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

It was an early start for students who left school at 5am by coach to get to Birmingham.

Music teacher Gavin Peel said: “It was also the night of the Year 11 prom and so we asked the organisers if the brass band could have an early slot on stage at the Symphony Hall to make sure they could get back home in time for the big event.

“It did unfortunately mean we had fewer students than normal in the wind band but they still played well.

“They were brilliant, but then they always are, and they were a credit to the school."
