RIBBLE Valley MP Nigel Evans says excessive housing development is the key issue for residents.

Speaking in the midst of his six-day constituency tour, he said: “There is no doubt that planning is the number one issue for my constituents. They are concerned about over-development for homes, whether it is in Whalley, Barrow, Langho, Clitheroe or Sabden.

“People come to the area because of its lovely countryside but if it is all covered with houses it won’t be beautiful any more.

“I shall tackle new housing minister Brandon Lewis on this issue urgently.”

why has the comments been taken off the Tesco protest,
A CROWD of people have once again gathered outside Blackburn’s Tesco superstore to raise awareness of the situation in Palestine.

Between 50 and 100 people peacefully protested outside the store, in Hill Street, this evening (THURS), a police spokeswoman said.

The Blackburn-based not-for-profit group Youth On A Mission had previously staged a demonstration there on Sunday, while taking a convoy of vehicles from Blackburn to Bradford the day before.

A large banner calling for a boycott of the chain because it stocks Israeli goods had also been put back up on the side of the derelict Duke of Edinburgh pub, in Crabtree Street, the police spokeswoman added.

So the penny has only just dropped?

This has been an issue ever since his govt brought in legislation that favoured the developers while ignoring the views of local communities. Nigel Evans, please don't take us for fools.

So Nigel does a six day visit to his constituency and suddenly becomes aware of some issues. He only needed to read the letters sent to him to work that one out, that's if he ever read them. Oh and why I wonder is he now concerned? Stand down Nigel and move on, No hard feelings but you are not focused on the job and were not even before your trial.

No Nigel, planning isn't the number one issue.
...
The number one issue is the lack of any action on your part - or more precisley the fact that you have only started releasing these soundbites when its too late.
...
You wouldn't need to 'urgently' contact the housing minister if you'd done something about this 12 months ago...

Brandon Lewis sounds like another right ' Jeremy Hunt' just like the mamalian protruberence Nick Boles, who he replaced. Making comments like 'Nimbyism is dead' in the Daily Telegraph and that local people can vote for more houses if they want to, shows hows totally clueless he actually is. If I was you Nigel, I wouldn't bother even talking to the feckless chump. Your party will be in opposition next year and pehaps then you can dwell on how you lost the election, which boils down to sticking two fingers up at your voters in favour of siding with your developer friends and party donors.

Evans is a complete joke. he's had one of the safest tory seats in England , given to him on a plate by David Waddington and is only interested now when he knows he's head is due to roll in the next elections.
Its too little too late Evans , you should of been pushing your weight and influence around to stop all the building YEARS AGO ,pathetic , resign and let someone who really cares about the Ribble valley fight our concerns on building on green sites .Clitheroe , Barrow , Whalley , Billington all being systematically destroyed , and where were you Evans ???? doing didley squat. Soon they will be no villages just one big bloody town stretching from Clitheroe to Wilpshire.... with no schools , roads and infrastructure to cope .
