BOSSES at Bury Council are set to be challenged over their decision to make household bin collections every three weeks, affecting Ramsbottom and Summerseat residents.

The move was approved by the council’s cabinet committee last month and been has met with anger, with more than 3,000 people signing a petition against the plans and criticisms over the council’s ‘lack of consultation’.

The borough is set to become the first in England to collect non-recyclable waste once every three weeks, but is now to be reviewed after being raised at a meeting of the council’s overview and scrutiny committee.

This could mean a debate at full council.
