Rubbish collection set for challenge

BOSSES at Bury Council are set to be challenged over their decision to make household bin collections every three weeks, affecting Ramsbottom and Summerseat residents.

The move was approved by the council’s cabinet committee last month and been has met with anger, with more than 3,000 people signing a petition against the plans and criticisms over the council’s ‘lack of consultation’.

The borough is set to become the first in England to collect non-recyclable waste once every three weeks, but is now to be reviewed after being raised at a meeting of the council’s overview and scrutiny committee.

This could mean a debate at full council.

Bet if i started dumping my 3rd weeks rubbish on the Town Halls front door it'd be cleared!

This is ridiculous and typical of the Labour council! They can complain all they want about Tory spending cuts, but I don't see them slashing or freezing their own pay!

They don't repair the roads, or when they do they dig them back up straight away, they turn the lights off on motorways and busy roads, they now won't be collecting bins, what DO they use our money on?
Oh thats right, they pay for "team building" sessions and give their cronies in bureaucratic positions pay rises and bonuses.

Time to start showing up Labour for the lie they display, working peoples party HA. UKIP is ran by a privileged ex-London stock broker who's more for working people than any of the Lib/Lab/Con members! What does that say about the current state of politics!

Very often you see people making comments about those who live in the Ribble Valley and the council here BUT... Houshold waste is removed EVERY week and green waste/recyclable's on alternate weeks.
Yes we may have issues with too much house building and we may have issues with some of the councillors but in general I think we are very lucky to have the service that we enjoy. Granted who knows how long it will go on but for now, I am satisfied. A 3 week service is disgraceful, no matter where it is.
