A TRIBUTE night has been arranged at a Burnley venue for a Nelson man who died in a quad biking accident in Australia earlier this year.

Bar Code in Hammerton Street will play host to the charity fundraiser in memory of Scott Thompson, the former Colne Primet High student who died after he was hit by a truck in the state of Victoria last February.

Mick Bradshaw, other-wise known as Burnley FC’s Bertie Bee, will be compering the evening, on Sunday, August 17, which will be in aid of Help for Heroes and Pendleside Hospice.

The 27-year-old was a former Duke of Lancaster regiment soldier, who served as a Kingsman in Cyprus before deciding to go travelling with his partner Sami Allott.

An event spokesman said: “There will be autographed sports memorabilia from Burnley FC, Manchester United and England players as well as boxing and darts person-alities.”

The raffle will be accompanied by a variety of fundraising games for Scott, who was affection-ately known as ‘Rhino’ and was described by family as ‘a joker who loved life’.

He had been working on a farm in Victoria, having visited Dubai, Thailand, Singapore, and Indonesia, before his death in the town of Bungador.

His mother Lynne and family had kept in touch with him via social media.

His body was later repatriated and his funeral took place at Colne’s Holy Trinity Church.

Another charity night at the Burnley League Club earlier this month, in Scott’s name, raised more than £2,500 for Help for Heroes.

Admission to the latest event will be £5 for adults and free for children.
