ST PETER’S CE Primary School in Darwen has announced that from the new term in September, all children up to year four must be collected from school by an adult. The decision was made after parents and teachers raised concerns for the children’s safety when they walked home from school alone.
The school, in Turncroft Road, says that its infant children have always had to be collected by an adult but due to the concerns, they are now extending the rule to incorporate years three and four.
