A HOUSING needs survey is planned to be undertaken by Ribble Valley Borough Council to establish what needthere is for affordable accommodation in Mellor.

The study will look at what is available for young people leaving home, first time buyers, older people downsizing their property, affordable rental properties and sheltered housing In its latest report the village’s parish council said that it fully supported the concept of a survey in principal, as it has been eight years since the last one.

Members noted concerns, however, that if a need for additional affordable housing was found, it was important to ensure that any subsequent properties are made available for local residents first.
