YOUNGSTERS from across East Lancashire are set to take part in a motorsport event this weekend.

Teens aged from 14 to 17 will meet at the M65 motorway services at Blackburn to compete in an autosolo event — based on the principles of autotesting.

The event, organised by The Under-17 Motor Club NW, consists of timed tests on a hard surface.

Autosolos are relatively new to the UK but have proved popular in the US.

They are considered a low-cost introduction to motor sport for beginners, particularly teenagers.

The event will start at 10am and finish at around 3.30pm, but competitors must register between 8.45am and 10am.

The entry fee is £25 and all cars involved must be road legal, registered, taxed, insured, and have an MOT certificate.

Cars must compete on road legal tyres and must be driven to the event.
