PENDLESIDE Hospice is hosting its annual ‘Girls’ Night Out’ event tonight and organisers are urging people who live on the route to cheer the ladies on.

The 10k route will see 800 pass along Ighten Road from the bridge that crosses the M65, down Lakeland Way, down Middlesex Avenue to the junction with Sycamore Avenue and then along Sycamore Avenue to Gannow Lane before they take the underpass at Gannow roundabout.

The walk starts at 8pm from Burnley Football Club so organisers are estimating that they will reach Ighten Road from around 8.20pm.

Hospice fundraising manager Mrs Kaye Bartle said: “It really will be a spectacular sight and those that don’t know about the event will really wonder what’s going on.

“There will be around 800 ladies walking in aid of Pendleside Hospice and all dressed for in spectacular headgear and fancy dress.

“It really spurs the ladies on to have encouragement from people on the route and with it passing houses it would be great if people could cheer them on.”

It follows the success of the Midnight Walk event the hospice have held over the past four years which have raised more than £900,000 towards patient care.

Women who want to take part can go to turf Moor between 6.30pm and 7.45pm and register for £20.
