A PLAN for a new 275-home development in Clitheroe has been submitted to Ribble Valley Borough Council.

Previous proposals for 345 homes on the Waddow View site off Waddington Road, submitted by a local consortium, were rejected at appeal in January.

The consortium, made up of Clitheroe Auction Mart, the Huntroyde Estate, John Taylor and Sarah and Samantha Howard, held a consultation period last month on the revised plans.

A spokeswoman for the group said a decision was hoped for in the next 13 weeks.

Coun Kevin Horkin said a public meeting, which will be attended by MP Nigel Evans, would be held on Saturday, July 26 so that local people could discuss the matter

It will be left to the residents to fight this one again, as Ribble Valley's planning dept are one more overturned decision away from being placed in special measures, so they won't touch it with a barge pole. They've got more important things to do, like stopping Gisburn from having a local pub. If they had been a football team, the manager would have been replaced years ago. I think Nero fiddled while Rome got burned, is rather apt here.

I bet there will be no sign of the following people at this meeting:
Marshall Scott Chief Executive, Colin Hirst Head of Regeneration and John Macholc Head of Planning. They are quite happy to take their salaries, paid for from our council tax money, but when it comes to stepping up to the breach, they are quite happy to stay at home with their feet up by the fire.

'Millionaire' councillor Horkin! Take a guess how he made his fortune?

Yep, you guessed it, through property development.

Now that the good people of Clitheroe have voted him in as a councillor, what do you think his thoughts are about new housing developments?

I don't hear him saying he will fight the 1000's of new property applications?
