A ‘POTENTIALLY’ violent man, who was recently let out of prison, has been arrested after he disappeared from his probation hostel.

Career crook Michael Quigley, who has more than 90 offences on his record, was jailed in January for trying to burgle a house and was released on Monday.

Chief Inspector Justin Srivastava, of East division, said: “Quigley is a potentially violent man both towards others and himself.”

He had tried to burgle a home in Burnley while the occupant was away.

He had been caught red-handed after a neighbour heard banging and saw him, armed with a crowbar and hammer, trying to break in.

Burnley Crown Court was told Quigley had not been on medication at the time, but since his remand in custody had been prescribed anti-depressant and anti-psychotic drugs. He was given another 13-month jail term.
