CRIMINALS crossing the borders into Lancashire have been targeted under the police’s Operation Monaco.
Volunteers from the Special Constabulary are conducting the operation targetting cross-border criminality.
Motorists have also been stopped to check for road safety offences such as ‘driving otherwise than in accordance with a driving licence’, driving a motor vehicle on a road without valid insurance cover’, ‘driving a vehicle on a road over three years old without a valid test certificate’, basic vehicle defects and drink driving.
On Saturday, officers spoke to drivers in Padiham Road, Burnley, at one of the sites being used for the operation. They also handed leaflets to drivers, explaining what it was all about.
